The Vision

Everyone is searching for something. But, we often fill our time and waste our energy with junk that the world is selling. The media assaults women, young and old, into believing they are too fat, too ugly, too busy, or too unworthy of health, wholeness, and joy. Most recently the media is pushing women to embrace the extremes, even glorifying "plus-sized models," in place of healthy, whole and naturally beautiful women. Is anyone else upset by this?

It cannot be denied that women seek beauty and wholeness. The boom of health, fitness, beauty, and food blogs alone over the past three years can vouch for that! Let's face it: we are obsessed with control and seeking beauty. And if we don't see ourselves as beautiful enough, we justify it ourselves through our busyness, budget, family, job, stress level, etc., etc.

I had yet to find a food blog or website focused not only on health and fitness tips, but on the wholeness offered by Jesus. True, many alluded to the need for a spiritual wholeness or spiritual connectedness, but I'm not talking about the emptiness of blanket meditation, yoga, zen, buddhist, earth-worshiping spirituality. I'm talking about Jesus!

Jesus said, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry. And whoever believes in me will never be thirsty."
John 6:35

Healthy, whole living cannot be achieved through diet and exercise alone, but needs to center around Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Every other lifestyle decision or healthy choice is second (even third) to honoring Christ and getting to know Him better in our day-to-day. We do this through quiet prayer, scripture study, and fellowship with other believers. Only then can we achieve the wholeness most are searching for through diet, relaxation, and exercise.

The vision of To Eat Pray Love is to offer a platform for women to share healthy recipes, health and fitness tips, bible study, prayer requests and prayer for each other, words of encouragement, and personal testimony.
